You may think it odd that I bring up something so menial as a Star Trek series, however for me this is something that means a great deal. I grew up watching Captain Picard warp through the galaxy, fighting Romulans and the Borg, and Captain Janeway and Sisko doing their own thing as well. I loved Star Trek as a story and a universe to just watch and admire. However, in the cultural move of today, I refuse to watch the newest iteration of Star Trek, which came out on CBS AllAccess last year, called Star Trek: Discovery.
I really do not care about the plot lines – although when it was rumored to be in production I was interested. I do not care about the stunning visuals, which during production were rumored to be the best of all time. I do not care about the deep history, which again, during production was rumored to be in line with every other Star Trek series up until now. I have seen enough – through the lens of those who are applauding it, than anything could have shown me on the big screen, or small screen as it were.
STAR TREK HAS FIRST OPENLY GAY COUPLE
The headline boasts – bragging to the lost and dying, that Star Trek, the once PG rated family show that came into your living room on network television with essentially nothing more than a futuristic fantasy and absolute morals, is now a cesspool of abomination! You may say – “hold on there preacher! They said that about the interracial interactions on the first series back in the 1960’s!!” to which I would say you are wrong. While yes for the time period it received some flack, for the most part – even those people in the DIRTY old South, loved the original Star Trek… So – this would be a moot point at best.
Proponents of such a disgusting event, claim that Star Trek was all about challenging social norms, and etc. I would say this, to what would you quantify this? Racism? I agree wholeheartedly, however going completely against nature, in a show designed to mimic complex and advanced science?? Is this to be the ‘norm’ of the 23rd century, as seen by the writers of new Star Trek? Apparently..
There will be those who say I need to just get with the times.. To which, I say – unashamedly – I refuse to ‘get with the times’ . The lead character – is a female, that is named Michael… Well if that isn’t insane enough, open homosexuality, combined with language not even allowed on broadcast television, has given us something, that even though the critics are hailing it as the best ‘trek’ ever, this preacher, this CHRISTIAN is saying – it is the type of smut we should not support, nor allow around our children in any way shape or form.
I challenge you – Christian – to boycott not only CBS, but also their online streaming platform. I challenge you – Christian – send letters to the CBS headquarters – informing them that such filth will not be allowed in their homes.. I challenge you – Christian – to stop watching anything with ties to CBS – (which entails a lot more than you might think) and not support a company that so brazenly flies in the face of God’s Word.
Can you do it?
